Anthony D’Offay Gallery

For this renovation of the Philip Johnson-designed Rockefeller Guest House in Midtown Manhattan, 1100 Architect converted what had been a private residence into an exhibition space for Anthony D’Offay Gallery—with careful fidelity to Johnson’s original design. To guide visitors through the space, the design introduces a free-standing wooden partition just beyond the entrance that directs circulation to the start of the exhibition. Once beyond the partition, visitors have clear sightlines through the entire building, which features two galleries separated by an open-air atrium.
