Groundbreaking Ceremony for SCENTRAL - a Project for the City and People of Darmstadt

Darmstadt’s mayor and city council members, together with representatives of Darmstadt’s Urban Development Corporation, and many guests celebrated the ground-breaking for Scentral, a new building for Darmstadt’s Drug Counseling Center.

After last year’s demolition of the existing building and the construction of an interim building located near the construction site, things are progressing rapidly, with the basement already completed.

The new building will not only be home to the counseling center, “Kontaktladen” (contact café), and offices, but the second floor will also house a therapy outpatient clinic with its own separate entrance.

The building will be constructed as a hybrid timber structure. Sustainability features of the design are the installation of a photovoltaic system and a green roof, which will make a positive contribution to biodiversity in the inner-city.

A planted courtyard with seating areas will replace the original asphalt courtyard, creating a harmonious transition to the adjacent "Herrngarten" park.

Scentral is a project that is very important to 1100. We are delighted to make such a significant contribution to Darmstadt’s community and to support the city in its effort to become a climate-neutral city by 2035.
